Matt’s Poem – November 2009

Cars and trucks and things that go,
Sharks and dinosaurs and GI-Joes,
Baseball and football and riding your bike,
Are among the things you used to like.

Driving and writing and reading your books,
A witty remark and eye-rolling looks,
Trivia, History, Classics and more,
Your love of learning was an open door.

Your humor and charm and sarcastic grin,
Are missed every day by all of your kin.
Today you would have been twenty-eight.
We wish you were with us to celebrate.

We miss you and love you.
Love, Mom, Dad & Dan

Matt’s Memorial – November 2013

We missed you last November when your brother said I do,
But knew that you were with us in the sun and skies so blue.
We missed you in December when the Christmas lights shone bright,
But saw you in the sparkle of the snow that fell all night.
We missed you in January when the bowl games all were played,
But knew that you were watching with us as the points were made.
In February, we missed your cheers when the Saints came marching in,
But heard your sigh as you missed us too, over the celebratory din.
We missed you once again in March when Winter lost some ground,
But felt you right beside us as our 30th came around.
April saw more sunshine and we felt your happy smile,
As May brought you a nephew and your brother and wife, a child.
Summer came with longer days and nice warm evening breezes.
Autumn had its harvest and we’ll soon have winter freezes.
As time goes by we miss you more but always feel your love,
You’ll forever be a part of us, watching over us from above.

Love Always,
Mom, Dad, Dan, Isaac & Xanthe
