Each year since 2008, the Fargo/Moorhead Chapter of The Compassionate Friends has held a Walk to Remember. The walk is generally held in late July or Early August. It begins at 10:30 am at the Main Shelter at Oak Grove Park (124 N Terrace, Fargo, ND). Following the Walk to Remember we will gather for a pot luck lunch and fellowship.
The Walk to Remember is about 3 miles round trip. We start at Oak Grove Park and walk to The Angel of Hope statue in Island Park and then return to Oak Grove Park. It is approximately 1 1/2 miles each way. We will have transportation at Island Park for those who choose to walk one way.
While at Island Park we will have a balloon release (please provide a balloon of your choosing) and a butterfly release (the chapter will provide the butterflies). You may also want to bring a flower to lay at the base of The Angel of Hope statue in memory of your child.
In 2018 we added 3 new activities. We held a raffle to benefit the expansion at Fargo/Moorhead’s Angel of Hope in Island Park, we had face painting, and we had a magic show. All 3 were very well received.
Please bring your child’s favorite dish (or your favorite dish) for our pot luck lunch. The chapter will provide fried and baked chicken and beef and buns for sandwiches.
